President Mills Begins Journey Home

A number of religious leaders a while ago, streched their hands in prayer over the casket containing the mortal remains of Professor John Evans Atta Mills at the State House, committing his soul into the hands of God.

This was after a group of clergy men had received the body of the man, who was clearly a devout Christian, from a journey which started Wednesday morning from the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, to his private residence at the Regimanuel Estates, to the seat of government, the Castle Osu.

That procession by a funeral cortege, comprising among others, escorts, guards and a mounted squadron, was greeted with grief and an outpour of tears by people who lined the streets to pay their last respects and bid farewell to Professor Mills, who for the past three and a half years, had introduced a new dimention of unprecedented selflessness, fear of God and humility into governance in Ghana.

At the Osu castle, his two brothers, Cadman and Samuel and his son Sam, let out their painful loss when they wept uncontrollably as they filed past and touched the casket. They were followed in like manner by staff. This was after a prayer had been said for the departed.
