The Standing Committee of the Western Regional House of Chiefs has affirmed its support for government's decision to relocate the gas plant from Bonyire to Atuabo.
The Chiefs announced this on Monday at a news conference in Accra.
The President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, Awulae Atibrukusu, stated that the decision by the paramount chief of Western Nzema Awula Annor Adjaye, to kick against the relocation of the plant is unfortunate considering the numerous benefits that the region stands to gain.
Meanwhile, a group calling itself Youth For Nzema-Manle and Western Development has appealed to all individuals and groups that have raised issues with the relocation of a gas plant in the region to reconsider their stance and let peace prevail in the area.
It commended President Atta Mills for setting the records straight on the ranging debate on the relocation of the Central Gas Processing Plant.
The group says the clarification should calm the people of the Western Region and put to rest any form of confusion.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Communications Director, Evans Osei.
